hey guys so the other day i read a thread that said that pokies can be sexed pretty early with the "dot" method. i just happened to see a good chance for a decent photo of my regalis and was wondering what you think? my regalis is around the 1.75 in mark right now. i hope the flash didnt affect the photo too much.

So far, my own personal 'dot' sexing with my personal collection has been 100%. A lot of what looks like the dot or could be mistaken for the dot has to do with the way the picture is taken, in my opinion.

From what I understand, the dorsal stripe is a good sexing method when they are larger, but isn't too great the smaller they are.

I had no problem sexing my miranda as male back when he was 2".

With your pictures, that looks more like a reflection of the flash than an actual dot.

Try to get one without it.

i still stand by what i said. sexing difficulty varies within the pokie genus. species like miranda, and rufilata are easily sexed at a small size, whereas regalis, ornata etc are more accurately sexed at 2" and above
