is it a good idea to setup a display planted tank for my chaco golden knee? size of tank is 24x12x12 (inches). plants will mostly be pothos and other hardy plants. will humidity be an issue
thank you for your reply. i have another question tho. i have a couple of slings maybe 1 to 2 inches, i noticed that vagans slings tend to have smaller abdomen and dont get plump as easily as may albiceps, albo and pulchripes.Pointless....They don't want the moisture it will provide and the t will likely just dig up the plants anywhere
No on plantsthank you for your reply. i have another question tho. i have a couple of slings maybe 1 to 2 inches, i noticed that vagans slings tend to have smaller abdomen and dont get plump as easily as may albiceps, albo and pulchripes.
And? Not all ts are the samethank you for your reply. i have another question tho. i have a couple of slings maybe 1 to 2 inches, i noticed that vagans slings tend to have smaller abdomen and dont get plump as easily as may albiceps, albo and pulchripes.
Nope, not only are live plant displays a nightmare to care for, most T's don't like or need the Humidity and stuff that plants will. Also G Pulchripes are notorious bulldozers, you're plants will just get dug up.is it a good idea to setup a display planted tank for my chaco golden knee? size of tank is 24x12x12 (inches). plants will mostly be pothos and other hardy plants. will humidity be an issue
Most of my enclosures are all planted. Never had a problem with them in general and enjoy them quite a lot, but yeah, anything terrestrial - they will absolutely destroy your hard work and create a dumpster fireNope, not only are live plant displays a nightmare to care for, most T's don't like or need the Humidity and stuff that plants will. If you're adamant on having a live plant setup, look for plants that grow naturally in the environment you're T is from. Set those plants up in an enclosure and keep them alive (without a T) for at least a year. After this you could introduce you're T.
Not my thing, I hardly have enough time to care for ally T's never mind the plants too lolMost of my enclosures are all planted. Arboreal, that's a whole different story.
As far as like waiting a year for the enclosure to grow and settle, I never wait longer than the initial set up. I've never had an issue with the enclosure needing to be set up for even a few days to a week.
I use anything that I like, not necessarily what plants are in their natural habitat, as most are incredibly hard to come by, (especially for rainforest South American species) and some may even have protection laws against plant poaching. Taking your G. Pulchripes for example. Potentially lots of cacti in their area, but I wouldn't plant cacti, in worry that the cacti would harm the T for obvious reasons.![]()
Yeah, to each their own, I get itNot my thing, I hardly have enough time to care for ally T's never mind the plants too lol
I think the live enclosures look great, there is no doubt about that. It's just the time needed to look after the plants, and the space that some can take up.Yeah, to each their own, I get itI only have 7 right now so it takes off the pressure lol
