Pit Bulls

My mom has a beagle/mix...and sometimes I wonder if the mix is pitbull. Anyone have any links to beagle/pitbull mix pictures?

That's a tough one. Lots of dogs look like Pits, and the pound will tell you anything but that it's an APBT. My Maggie was a boxer-terrier mix. But here is a site that claims to have one: http://dogoftheday.com/archive/2002/September/28.html

I'm sure that dog is genuine, whatever it is, but it looks like an assigment given to photo arts students learning photoshop.

alot said in this thread.. i dont know what to respond too.......... ive been breeding pits for 9 years . i have 6 of them, 1 kid, 6 cats and many other animals. i hate when they are decribed as nasty animals. all mine live and eat together and i have no problems. maybe a bicker here and there but nothing serious.just like in people everybody has fights specially living together. i do breed blues and blue brindles, and if anyone is intrested i have 2 litters coming up . december 22 and 24 . serious people only ..... well back to looking at the boards...............johnny

In your experience how long does it take a pit to become full grown? Like I said, mine is about a year and it seems like she's still filling out in the chest. Any thoughts?

I have fallen in love with pit bulls ever since the local pet shop had an adorable female....she was so quiet and well behaved. All she did was roll over for you to rub her belly. I wsh I could have bought her but I couldn't afford it. I would probably just end up going to a shelter and adopting one. This is definitely one breed that has been mischaracterized as "mean" or vicious". As far as I am concerned, those two words do not go together with this breed.


Are certain breeds of pit bulls known for different behaviors?

in my opinon they will grow till age 3 . they willl stop height wise at 10-12 months and fill out all the way til age 3...........johnny

my sis has 4 dogs but she didn't tell me what kind untill i went to visit her over christmas with my kids. she was kinda worried since the dogs weren't used to kids and nobody wanted to "dog-sit"if she wanted to go somewhere.
they would chew up the window sill and ripo the curtains down if somebody would dare enter the yard if she wasn't in the house.
but they NEVER growled nor tried to bite any of my kids.
they are all around 80lbs. they are all male and the yougest is 4 years old.
the smallest is a bull terrier, then a chocolate brown pit bull, a pit bull/boxer mix and a pit bull/american bull terrier mix. i know she picked up one of them at the pound. and believe it or not she took one away from a teenager that was trying to use him in a dogfight. when she got told that he and his buddy would get him back, she told him to try it.
they mind her and all get along with each other AND the two cats.
one of them even made sure the cat wouldn't scratch my son whenever he grabbed it by the tail.
they all acted like puppies, trying to crawl into your lap.
