Hello everyone

my pink toe has seem to be stuck in premolt for some time and has made a web mat on the floor and then moved away from it. They are refusing food and rarely drink. This has been for the last month or two

it’s setup is perfect and was helped set up by an entomologist I work with.
Today the spider fell into its water dish and was having a hard time climbing and I caught it when it fell from a small height. I have since put them in a small enclosure with paper towels to dry off and get its bearings…. Any help???

Pics of the T and enclosure are needed to evaluate what's going on.

Enclosure and pic of tarantula a few weeks ago and photo now abdomen seems to have shrunk a little bit
How long has it been in this enclosure? Long enough to give it a good coating of poop, I can see... LOL

The enclosure looks OK, but I would get rid of that half-log hide thing and replace it with a flat or slightly curved piece of cork bark leaned up into the back corner next to the fake plant. This will give your a solid, dark place to hide out and start building it's web tube from.

If you put it in this enclosure relatively recently, like within the past couple of months, and it's in premolt that would explain why it hasn't done more in the way of webbing. Premolt also explains the falling - they lose the ability to grip the smooth surfaces when they are close to molting.

You should change out that hide and replace your T back into it's regular enclosure ASAP. Make sure it has a full water dish and leave it alone. As long as it can drink and isn't going into a death curl, it should be fine if you just give it time.

I’ve owned a ton of Avics. Never ever had one make a molting mat on ground. Odd if yours did!

Premolt doesn’t mean a thing in terms of your care. For a T it means they fall OFTEN, they don’t eat at all or not as much. That’s it.

The amount of questions on premolt is mind blowing over the past many years here.

Can’t say what’s up with your T if anything at all.

Setuo is fine generally minus the screen top. That’s NOT good at all.

I know tarantulas can molt even if abdomen isnt big. I just thought the size of that abdomen was a bit small for a tarantula about to molt.

its probably not found the right place to do it yet. If you follow @NMTs cues, it will help.

Good advice given above. Hydration is crucial for a successful molt.
