Hi all, any help on this would be greatly appreciated, so I’m looking into getting my first true spider and the piloctenus haematostoma has caught my eye. I’m just wandering if anyone who has experience with this species can give any advice on the type of setup they require ? Only ever kept tarantulas the past few years including OW and NW so not sure if keeping them is different at all. Again any help would be much appreciated!

Be careful, they are fast as heck.

They are fast, like make a pokie or s cal look slow fast. They can also jump, and trying to rehouse them was not a pleasant experience, but at least my sister let me know that she found it instead of killing it. Their venom iirc isn't lethal, unlike other ctenids, but I can't imagine its pleasant. I will say though that they have awesome feeding responses. if you're used to theraphosid feedings, a ctenid feeding will blow your mind away, especially seeing it in person.
