I'm just wondering what exactly the difference is between the two? I should be getting some P. sp. 'all green' tomorrow and when they get older I'd like to breed them. However, I'd rather not muddy up anything more than it already is, so I'd like to familiarize myself with the current 'sp. green' out there. Does anyone know the difference by any chance?

Who are you buying the specimen from? there's only Phormictopus sp. “green” that I know of, females that I've seen are very dark black with a metallic green tint.

If you ask me there's IMO for my views a bit of a mess in that genus. Like sp. "purple" voices about just a local variant of P.cancerides.

I'm not sure I'm allowed to say the name on here, but he's a pretty notable person. It's an import from Germany as well I believe. I do know in Europe there's three variants, 'green femur', 'all green' and one other one I can't really remember right now. However, here in the US, there's only one, and it's 'green'.

Yea, that's what I was thinking, however, just to be sure and keep everything in line I'd like to know what I'm working with.

Of course, man. A wise thing. So i think only pics will help, then :)
I'll be uploading photos on my pic thread once I get them tomorrow, however, they'll be slings so I don't know how much help they'll be for now.

So this is what I was able to get so far, just sp. 'green' can either have green on their femur or cephalothorax while 'all green' has it on the full leg and cephalothorax. This is just what the person thinks, so not 100% confirmed yet. Whenever I receive the T's I'll keep track of their growth and visual markings and compare them against my P. cancerides.

This is what I have read as well. During an internet search I came across this Polish breeder/seller that lists all three for sale. Maybe you can get some more info by contacting them.

Just saw that actually haha. Hopefully by the time I decide to purchase Ts next they still have them!
Have you noticed any differences between your two Phormictopus sp.?
Too soon to tell, the cancerides was bought about a month ago as full grown female 7"+, and the atrichomatus female is about 4" when I ever get to see her. She is very skittish/reclusive. I'm hoping the "spunk" comes as she grows.

I have a Phormictopus "sp green". Would love to know more about these vs the other color variants including other "green" variants. Where do the greens come from? Are they any different temperament wise than P Cancerides?

I'll keep an updated log to see the differences exactly. My only problem is that there aren't very many sp. 'all green' so it might be a bit challenging to breed them opposed to the 'green'.

From what I was told, they have to be quite a bit larger to start showing colors otherwise they will look like the 'generic' Phormictopus
