Pet names!

Every single T I have is assigned a number for my records and then gets a very creative "FUN" name. Yep, Falk... I said "Fun"

My multiples are all related names somehow.

I have three B.boehmei slings named Lucky, Dusty and Ned (from the Three Amigos)

I have four P.striata slings named Duya, Wanna, Ciga and Rette. (I don't smoke, but thought it sounded funny) :?

I have three P.regalis appropriately named Larry, Moe and Curly

My four P.formosa's are named Vayne, Vinchester, Vally and Villiam (so I can pretend I no longer have a silly Midwestern Accent.

i had 2 versicolors they were simon and garfunkel, but garfunkel had a bad molt.
P cambridgei - U-turn
P regalis-cruella
N coloratovillosus-ketchup, since i had it in a small condiment cup when it was 1/4"
B vagans- quinzee, since it built a shelter that looks like a quinzee
G rosea-rumpelstiltskin

some others too and some scorpions

We have way too many to list their names, but we give each genus a theme. For example:

Selenocosmia: X-Men characters
Pokies: Diablo characters
Avics: cartoon birds
Brachys: games
Nhandu: cartoon bears
Acanthos: McDonalds characters
Psalmos: greek gods
Pterinos: Clue characters
Taps: Flash characters
Scorps: Fantastic Four villains

etc.

We also name our big terrestrial OWs (Citharischius, Hysterocrates, etc) after decepticons and our big terrestrial NWs (Lasiodora for now) after autobots.

We're pretty cool like that, haha.

originally mal's name was malevolence (an in-game WoW joke), but we got into the habit of calling "him" captain mal, after malcom reynolds from firefly. we had a contingency plan to call him maleficent (from sleeping beauty) if, upon being sexed, he was a she. which ended up being true after all, but mal stuck anyway.

G. pulchripes- "sushi"

because my boyfriend wishes i would have bought sushi that night instead of bringing home a wee little sling.

B. boehemi- "wrex" (m) /"riley" (f)

okay, i havent bought it yet, but when i get that boehemi juvie it's going to be named after one of my favourite video game characters ever. which only proves that i've been playing way too much mass effect lately.

I've always loved ancient European names, particularly Germanic ones. They sound so harsh, yet regal

My pets:

"Hildegard" - a small Brachypelma smithi (the website I from which I checked claims the name means "battle enclosure" which I suppose means battlefield :? Either way, it's still a beautiful name )

"Sieglinde" - a subadult/adult Grammostola rosea ("gentle victory")

I'm getting a leopard gecko soon, and since they are also found in Iran, I plan to give him/her an old Persian name

Haha, I'm naming the first skeleton tarantula that. Also, whichever of the 3 reduncus I find to be male first will be named "Duncan."

I am probably gonna get killed by some of you but, I find it utterly pointless naming t's, i mean she's not going to come when you call. I guesss i am too scientific in my viewpoints. However there is one exception, my Lasiodora Parahybara is named after my gf because they have the same color hair, needless to say my gf didnt think it was funny, but i did.

Out of my 10 tarantulas, only one is named. My first sexed tarantula, a 2" Aphonopelma hentzi, molted when one of my college friends was over. We had both taken a photography course and both will call people "Nan Goldin" after the photographer. This probably doesn't make sense to anyone but the story is a lot longer and I don't feel like going into specifics.

Long story short: It molted and was sexed female when my friend Jay was over, so my only tarantula with a name is Nan Goldin; which is kind of ironic since the henzi's have that golden hue to their carapace.

my only T at the moment is my n.coloratovillosus sling that i named Maku. Maku is the name of a small tribe that lives along the amazon river in Brazil, the Maku tribe's name means- without speach. I should be getting a small p.irminia this week but I can't name it until i see it.
