I have a fruit fly population in my outdoor building but I've gone the opposite way, lol. I'm trying to breed them as I have a lot of true spider slings that need feeding.

There's one thing I've used for fungus gnats that from the internet sounds like it also works for fruit flies. Take a little container and put some apple cider vinegar in it. Then add a little soap to it add stir it up. The fruit flies should get stuck in that.

I actually do that because they manage to get out of the tub and into my room, it does sort of work and I have seen results. I juts need a way to permenantly get rid of them from the tub because even with soap they still managed to come back.

Does your roach bin have substrate? If it does, are they laying their eggs in the substrate?

Where are they laying them? the hides?
I think it might be their poop to be honest. After I cleaned it all out the last time i would have thought that it would have gotten rid of all the eggs/larvae but I guess not

If this is a first time situation for you, prepare for summer. As any feeder roach colony grows bigger, especially Dubias and lateralis. There is going to be a higher number of these Fruit flies gnats. If its dubias its going to be easier to deal with than the lateralis. Dubias, are going to have to be cleaned every week around every 7-10 days. Fruit flies will lay eggs in the dubias poop, the poop and food dish (if any) is super rich nutrients for fruit fly larvae and you're going to have to throw out all the poop, whether you like it or not. And eventually they will die off or look for another source to reproduce for those annoying fruit/phorid flies.

Go outside, find some small jumping spiders too small to bother the roaches and introduce them. Don’t know if it’s a good long term fix but I’d assume that it’d work

Suspend a sticky trap with a piece of fruit in the middle where the roaches can't get to it. FFs are a sucker for those traps.

that sounds really interesting, unfortunately its way to cold out now where I live for jumpers to be out and about
