Pest controls and Tarantulas

I have a question for the boards...

I currently own three tarantula slings. Lately I've noticed more cockroaches running around my house, and my wife is pressuring me to do a little spray action to keep them in check. In the past I have used an off the shelf Home Depot style spray on the basement area and garage (under the house garage) to control pests, although not since I have had the spiders. I have never sprayed the interior of our house, as I generally dislike chemicals in the home, and we have dogs, which I worry about being affected by chemical sprays (even though they are supposedly safe for dogs after drying.)

If I were to spray the under the house in the crawl space and in the garage area, would this pose a threat to my dear little taratulas? I keep them on the ground floor in aquariums with wire mesh tops. I would not feed the spiders bugs I caught around the house. That would be too risky.

If YES it would be a threat, then would it be acceptable for me to remove the spiders from the house for a few days and then bring them back? Or would lingering traces pose a threat to them.

I would worry that those chemicals absorb into things and linger. Wouldn't that be how they how they kill or discourage roaches from entering and staying in your home.. Mine you I am not an expect and I am pretty sure that there are a wide variety of products available. I have a natural choice pest company that comes in and they treat the house (ie he puts stuff on the inside of the ALL electrical outlets). I have had no problems with it and the tarantulas nor with my dogs. What has been everyone else's experience?

Spraying outside the house is certainly not an issue, assuming you're not feeding any wild-caught bugs.

Setting roach traps inside the house is fine too, assuming you're not feeding anything you catch in the house either.

Well the chemicals are "supposed" to be safe once dry and not be tracked around. I was wondering about that. Since they would be sprayed on the underside of the floor and insulation, I would doubt much would seep through to the upstairs room. I suppose if a bug from downstairs got upstairs and got eaten, that could be a major problem. Any other opinions? It would have to seep through insulation, subfloor, and hardwood floor to reach the room with the spiders.

Googling natural pest control in my area right now thx.

Do you consider basement and attic spaces as "outside the house" or are you talking exterior only? Is the insulation and drywall barrier enough to contain the chemical traces? I'd imagine there are some arachnid owners who use Terminix and other spray companies. Anybody?

Not a problem. I actually called the poor man and spoke extensively with him before decided to use them. Bill is his name and he was very helpful and informed.

I can tell you this right away, Home Depot (or any store bought) type of pest control won't get rid of roaches.

I spent 3 yrs working part time for a local family owned pest control service. You have to use paste in the areas they frequent so they bring it back to the nest for the rest to eat... or call a pest control service. They are licensed to use commercial grade pastes and such.
