My landlord is one of those "know it alls" who does all the maintenance himself. So.. my guess is that it's a 99.9% he's doing it himself with some kind of spray.
So I doubt I'll be dealing with anyone but him.

I am worried that if I tell him I have tarantulas he may kick us out ! At least.. my boyfriend doesn't want me to even mention them incase of that.

I also have snakes and sugar gliders...I am going to have to get them ALL out tomorow somehow.

So I am kind of getting mixed information.. but from what I gather so far.. as long as the tarantulas aren't in a sprayed area or come in contact with a sprayed area, they should be okay ?

I wish it was a company and not my slumlord.. he probably doesn't know anything if i were to ask him about my pets being okay.

Grrr...

Wes is right.

Since you think he is going to do it himself...... That's a double edged sword no doubt. Chances are unless he is state certified he can't purchase or apply professional chemicals (legally any way). So he will probably get a premixed solution from a hardware store or co-op which is less potent and poses a little less of a problem for your Ts. The other edge of that blade is he probably doesn't apply it according to label instruction which is dangerous for all involved & illegal.

If you are worried about his pet policy then that's a whole different story all together. I think Wes is right on this one too. Tell him you are allergic and insist that he not spray you apartment.

Hope it all works out for you :) Let us know what happens.

As long as the subject of what pest controls kill tarantulas is on....

Does diatomaceous earth harm tarantulas? I know it does a number on fleas and other small insects by eroding their chitin at the joints and dehydrating IIRC. Same effect on Tarantulas or not?

Is it Botar(?) that has his place sprayed every 3 months. Someone here does and has no problems.
No, not me. I'm the one who turned the house geckos loose to catch stray crickets.

i also insist on no spraying. i claim allergies for myself and my daughter, and threaten lawsuits. if you develop a loose cricket problem or something like i did after i got my first massive cricket shipment, let a gecko loose outside of the spider room, and recapture it when the problem is solved. on demand pest control. none of myy cats could catch the crix, and aparently not the gecko either (tokay). you are fully within your rights to keep your home pesticide free. :)
