Permethrin yard treatment and risk for Tarantula?

Hello,
I recently purchased some permethrin I was going to dilute and spray outside around the perimeters of my house and garages and wondering if any risk is involved with my Wife's Mexican Red Knee being in the house and how likely a exposure would be?

It's lethal to arachnids. Likely you will end up having a T with "dks", as it attacks their nervous system.

Unless you take a ton of preventive measures, like cleaning your hands and clothes every single time you are in contact with it...

I have used permethrin shampoos in the past without any single issue, but, I used change my clothes and took a shower every single time I gave a bath to my dog. Also I used to clean and still clean my hands before doing any tasks regarding the Ts.

It’s a risk without a doubt. Your neighbor could spray and you’d have dead Ts potentially- happened to someone here.

It certainly could prove to be fatal if you cross contaminate and bring any of it inside to your wife with you. Be very careful and take precautions

i agree, I wouldn’t do anything that risks the tarantulas life. Pesticides aren’t to mess with and if they’re sprayed they obviously get into the air and there’s no guarantee they won’t get into your house.

I have Thripse (houseplant pests) on the plants in the room the tarantulas are in, which rules out the use of any pesticides like permethrin.
I personally would recommend looking for something to use as a „natural pesticide“, ironically enough I have false widows living in my apartment which keep the thripse in check. Better for the environment too.

The safer way to do this and it’s the way I treat for pests around my home on all the many plants I have is by using systemic soil drench pesticide that is not sprayed but applied to the soil. I recently did this to knock out fungus gnats and mealybug and have had no issues just make sure you throuroughly walk your hands and change your clothes and for me shower after treating just in case.

I would be careful about natural stuff also. Depending on what it is such as an essential oil-based product, some EO's can be ok with animals and others are huge NO, NOS.

Oh agent Orange, it’s a universal substance in my home, even makes a good creamer in my coffee every morning!
