Perlite or Vermiculite?

I'm very surprised that no one has mentioned that vermiculite dust is thought to be a carcinogen and can cause cancer. Even in the low amounts used in bedding I personally wouldn't risk it.
Yep thats true, Saw a TV commercial about a class action law suit that was looking for people who had homes with vermiculite attic insulation. You know if it was on the TV its gotta be true.

The homes that contained that in their attic have to be old. We aren't putting vermiculite attic insulation in our tarantula enclosures, we are using asbestos free vermiculite which is not only safe for our Ts, its superior to most substrate choices.

The two best are vermiculite and peat moss in terms of being safe, retaining moisture, staying clean, and cheap price. If money is no object there are other materials that are good, such as coconut fiber products.
