i've had a pekingese from a petstore and i WAAAY over paid, it never did housetrain (the breed is known for it'd stubbornness in housetraining), was dumb as mud, could never get it to stop screaming when i crated him (and they scream like babies when they're upset), but i'll admit when he wasn't a complete terror, he was really cute. i had him 7 mos and decided that was enough, the dog was no further ahead in housetraining than when i got him, after all that time. the dog i have now i bought out of the paper and he's the best dog i've ever known, he picked up housetraining within a couple weeks - he even comes to me and whines when he wants out, we can crate him with no problems (for the most part - he's getting better tho) and he comes when i call him.
no offence to anyone who has one, but small dogs suck, they're downright stupid. i've seen too many cases supporting the statement to think otherwise.
I BET you more than anything that the reason for your dog's problems was because he was taken from his mother too young. What was his age when you got him?

BTW...my dog is a Poodle, and he's the smartest dog ive ever known. So you should probably be saying SOME small dogs suck, but that's a little bias either way. There are stupid big dogs also.

I agree there are probubly just as many dumb big dogs as there are dumb small ones, lol. And poodles are actually known to be really smart dogs. I've just never had good experiences with small dogs, you just can't hug them, play with them or cuddle with them like a big dog. Having a small dog is more like having a cat, there's only a certain abount of hands on interaction they can handle. *i just know i'll get flamed for that comment, lol*

'Illegal to give customers papers because the breeder may have lied'..hmm, that sounds OK, in the Twilight Zone.

Petshops shouldn't deal with cats or dogs, I think.
