Hi guys,
I found this statement/post in the FAQ's and asked, but to no avail. So, my question would be: Do this apply to all Androctonus species? It's kinda hard to count the pectines.. I have blurry vision and my eyeglasses makes me go vomit.

Four examles of what I believe are female Androctonus mauritanicus, females lack the notch found on the male pedipalps fixed "finger".

The top and bottom pic on the left are more mature, they do have a small indent on the fixed pedipalp finger, but the notch of the males is much more noticable.

Great thread so far...
credits to Nich. thanks Nich.

I would also like to ask about the pectine teeth of the species. [A.Australis, A.Bicolor]

try using powerful microscope Moy you'll not have any difficulty counting the pectines...
A. Australis (pectine count)
Female- 22-27
male - 28-33

Unfortunately, I don't have one, I would just borrow from my colleagues then. (though as I've said, magnifying glasses/microscopes doesn't agree with my eye conditions.)

Follow-up,

Do Androctonus genus reach 8th instar as the other buthid Centruroides and Rhopalrous?

^This, hahaha~ It's hard to get the pics even in macro.

I have a friend (or friends) that successfully made their Centruroides Margaritatus, Parabuthus Traansvaalicus and Rhopalrous Junceus reached 8th instar.

It would be good news for me if it is possible with the Androctonus sp., Well, 7i is BIG already.

I checked out the pectines on this bicolor and they're REALLY long which makes me think it's a male?

here's a phone shot of the pecs.

as far as the chela go it doesnt look near as reliable as it would be with B. jacksoni or some other species where it's more noticeable
