I don't know how to tell the sexes apart on these. Hey Beetleman, did you say one sex is bigger than the other, ..seems like I read that somewhere.

ooh,nice ones ya got there. hmm, i'm not 100% on these,because when i kept abunch at one time(trying to breed them w/no avail)they were mounting and they were very close in size:?maybe a different larger sp? all mine now are seperate(mixed sp),but as with most native carabids the females are bigger,try putting them together and watch carefully to seperate them if any fighting is going on. i'm still gonna take another crack at breeding these guys.

Ah, you Southerners and your big, gorgeous beetles. I think I read that the elytra is shiny on the male, flat on the female.

yeah,that would sound right,shiny and dull(maybe different sp?but then again),i have some that are like that,that is great info,i have to do more reading:wall::p
