Living in China, you would think it would be easy to find bamboo to use for my arboreal tarantula enclosures. IT ISN'T. However, today at a garden shop I found a 3 meter length of bamboo that's the perfect size. Here's the rub--it's been painted green to look like young bamboo. It looks nice, but I'm worried about the paint, since I have no way of knowing if it is lead based or not. What would you do in this situation. By the way, my goal is to use the bamboo to create hides and also as cup holders for the water dish.

Thanks a bunch. It's hard to walk away, they are so perfect. On the other hand, a live spider is more important than a beautiful empty cage.

May want to run a search on bamboom in the search function first. I know it was a mold hazard, but I don't remember if it was if it's put where it can get sprayed or if it would be fine not touching the soil or up higher. It was about 3 months ago when I looked into using it.
