would it be a dumb idea to try keeping one or two in a enclosure and raising them?

maybe even try to make it a communal?
If you have access to tiny prey items, they would be fun to raise.

I wouldn't try keeping them communally, as they will eventually eat each other.

I just fed my house spider for the first time! It took her, like 5 minutes, but, websites do say that they can take large prey, so, yay!
Parasteatoda tepidariorum are fearless hunters. I often find them with much larger prey in their webs.

Here is one that lived in my dubia bin and poached a roach every week. (In this photo, she has two roaches.)
