roach poo/frass is brownish in my experience... and nothing like tarantula poo, at all

edit:
oh yeah, get a triple lens magnifier of ~decent quality and shoot in macro mode through it. you can even use optical zoom (NOT digital... that is just computer chicanery)

white paste isnt nematodes, ive had 4 blondis have the same, possible from infected crickets, 2 s/lings died and 2 larger pulled through. do you notice a weird smell in the tank, a bit like ammonia? when mine had this paste (and were also ill, showing several symptoms) there was a distinct smell in the tank.
This is the exact same thing I had happen to my avic and baboon. The avic had the VERY distinct ammonia smell, the baboon did not. Both died.

Both had white paste around their mouth, and eventually were not able to move their legs or anything. I tried to whipe the white crud off w/ a qtip, but it never helped. It was very sad, and I never have figured out why this happened.

I had 2-3 threads about this, that a lot of people responded to, do a search.
And this happened to me all in about 2 months time. Dec. 2007-Feb. 2008

I just don't think it's poo, at all. I think it's more.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be an "outbreak" of this "white paste" stuff recently? :(

Exactly what I was thinking....it's like everyone is getting a little bit of this....

I just hope we can narrow down the cause soon!

Hmm... I really do think it is poo
As I speak she is cleaning her mouth parts, but the area in question is just out side the mouth parts. I looked at the pics of the T's you folks were talking about, and this doesn't look like that.

I am wondering if I should carefully hold the T and gently clean it off?

I hope it isn't what my T's had...and I do wish the BEST for you...if you feel comfortable holding the T, and cleaning it off w/ a qtip, go for it....it couldn't hurt...keep us posted.

"it couldn't hurt"
LOL yes it could, it might hurt me and/or my T. I think I might wait to see if it goes away after she eats again. All those juices and friction on that area might make it clear up naturally.

If it doesn't clear up after I feed her, then I will clean it off manually.

guts

OK I am currently observing the T eat the roach, and noticed some white gutty stuff come out of the roach where a fang penetrated the dorsal thorax area.

still watching to see what happens.

my hopes are that when the Roach gets balled up and you cant recognized it any longer the juices will dissolve said white stuff. And I can stop worrying

Ok, she is now done eating

Well now she is done eating, but the white crap is still there.

Do you all think I should manually remove it or wait? She is eating and acting normal so I don't know if removing it manually is the bset thing to do.

It sounds like the white stuff is roach guts and your T is just really enjoying her food. Is she cleaning herself regularly?

Can you swab the area with a damp Q-tip or the like? You could magnify what you find and ease your mind. I would say do the clean up and see what you get as a result. Better to find out now while something might be done instead of waiting. You could always very carefully chill her a little to slow her down. I don't have Pokies but do have several Haps and two OBTs and can only imagine having to do this with them, still I would rather and know than not know and drive myself crazy.

Best of luck to you both! BTW, your enclosure is grand! Looks a lot like mine for my A versi. Hers smells so good too.

NO NEED! {D

Yea, Whilst she was grooming herself many times over the weekend she got it off one her own. I did play with her a liitle bit, but never attempted to hold her in place, just let her crawl on me sometimes very fast. I love how they jump and glide, it is sweet. I think she is fine and it must have only been poo.

I'm glad your problem has been solved and wish you luck.

If you have cold blood and take a dubia and cut it in two you will see that all is inside is white :D

Now I`m relaxed :)
