I've been wanting to do this for a while...
If it's possible, Why not do it with my 1st Instar Poecilotheria Regalis...
Sofar I have recorded 2 days of video...
I intend to get this upcoming molt on video.

This first one is a 4 hour cleaning session... removed 3 and a half hours (in about 5 to 30 second segments) of no movement, and gradually speeding it up...

click here to see the 4 hour cleaning session on youtube

Thanx

actually the camera isn't pricey at all... got it on ebay... the Hard drive space is the expensive part...

Actually I take that back..... the computer to handle this kind of video compression is the most expensive part.

HOLY!!!! WOW!!!!!

OK so, I've been recording video for a few days now... and I decided to look at the cycles of activity and inactivity..

and I think I found something....
I think my spider is... sleeping...
but... even more astonishingly.... Dreaming....
Yeah... Hard to take, I know... but... now that I think about it... dogs dream, Cats dream... other animals dream.... just seems so, strange that an invertebret would also...

but anyways... I just compressed the video, and Finally got it below 100 MB to put on you-tube...

TRULY ASTONISHING!!!!! this could answer some questions. I think...
about spiders... and ourselves... not just as the crazy people who like spiders... but as Human-beings....

I felt it deserving of a soundtrack.. so I spent a little bit of time on that...
which dragged things out a tad bit and delayed the submission time...

anyways...
here you go...

The Enigma of
Sleep and Dreams in spiders

Interesting not that I would conclude it was dreaming but I really like the idea of the videos and I can’t wait to see what else you’ll capture in the future :)

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
NO! NO NO NO NO!!
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I can't BELIEVE THIS!!!!!!
The most horrible thing happened....
The computer ran out of MEMORY.... yeah Memory... RAM.... not HD
space.... RAM..... I still had my computer recording from the live
camera... I decided to get some photos of the other spiders... I opened 13
photos at the same time... and color corrected all of them according to
eachother rather than according to the photos themselves.. (worked
Really well) I got tired and we fell asleep.... I did not save the files and I
did not quit photoshop or Bridge. While at the same time I was
recording... working with 13 photos in photoshop and a file of 300
pictures open in Bridge, and still writing a 180 GB video file, from an
analogue source.... guess which application auto quit.... NOT
PHOTOSHOP!!!!! AAARGH!!!!!

Ok.... ok... don't loose your cool.... its a 1 in a 1000 chances that the
spider molted in that short amount of time, its only been 5 hours... open
the camera and you'll see!!!

you'd Better PREY he didn't molt!

see? no exuvium...

Well how do you explain the dark blue areas and the fact that it seems bigger now??

Uhm.... but the exuvium!?!?!? what... you think the spider ate the molt?

Sounds like a good guess to me.... WHACK!!!
