hope the guy made a successful insertion before he became a meal to mom

Its rather frowned upon to do such inbreeding, you should at least skip a generation.

^ really? because you know over half of the people on here inbreed right?

There are countless times when people will buy multiples of a sp. from the same sac, slow the males down and speed the females up to breed sacmates...

I am not condoning it, but it regularly happens.

Indeed, there are countless people that do it, probably because they think its fine to do. Nature gives us a big clue here, the males mature before the females in all cases of tarantula so as to avoid this particular issue. If we keep them in the same conditions the liklihood is the males will have be dead or well past their prime fertility before the females mature.
Many of the species we have in the hobby are from a small gene pool, we accentuate the issue when we breed direct kin. Unfortunately most people will ask, where's the evidence, where's the papers without considering most of the species we have in the hobby have only been with us for a handful of generations. Some of the Pokies we have in the hobby have been with us as described species for </> than 10 years:
P. hanumavilasumica 2004
P. pederseni 2001
P. smithi 1996
P. tigrinawesseli 2006

When we consider recent petitions (October 2010) and the possibility of Poecilotheria being added to CITES (it was refused in 2000) IMO we should be a bit more responsible with the stock we have.
