I molt confirmed my 4" female DCF Mikumi when she was ~2.5" but she has some eerily long legs now 🤔

She/they went from 1" to 4" in just about 4 molts over the course of 375 days. I'm starting to get concerned. I feed about every two weeks, whenever she starts searching around for food, not like I'm gorging her.

Edit - maybe I just wasn't accurate with my molt sex attempt at that size 🤷

I've heard
"Keep your slings fat, but only feed anything more mature moderately."

Meh, legs. Leggy. Not leggy. Leggings. No legs… i think tarantulas go through changes just like any other animals. They have their phases. Some molts can be more demanding on energy.

a well trusted tarantula dealer told me they had an expert come in. The kind of expert who can apparently eyeball sex tarantulas. Turns out they were wrong most of the time.

lets not go down the male route just yet. Wait till it goes on the wall of the enclosure to take a good picture. To inspect it with horticulture magnifieing glass. At 4 inches, you should have pretty good clues. And a fresh molt is sure to pop up again.

if you sexed a molt, then you saw what needed to be seen. Its not like it will change sex over night… then again, some animals do.

dont worry about the feeding. I feed when I see my tarantulas. Im using the daves little beasties technique. I do feed my slings more often then larger tarantulas. But then again, i feed what my tarantulas will eat.

just wait it out. And enjoy your beautiful tarantula! And share a pic when you have one. So we can all play the guessing game and cry about it.

we arent gods. No matter what the voices in our heads say. We cant control nature. It will always do its thing in the end. We can upset and alter nature. But we can never presume we master it like it masters itself.

the world is currently regulating itself. And it is giving us a lesson in what happens when we play god.

Most my females are leggy like the males lol wonder what they identify as . Both ld kept destroying molts looked super leggy , but both are females. It’s the smaller body size of males that sets them apart . Although I had an 7-8” Phampho once had a decent body size..
