Ootheca Hunting Coming Up Short.

I have been searching for some mantid ooths for a few days now and I am not finding anything except hatched ones. Is it possible that I am late for hatching season? Its still in the 30s most nights. Any tips on finding them if they are out there?

I should add im not sure what I am finding are ooths they look really similar though.
