In the past few months, we have had three scorpions enter our apartment in Oklahoma City. I look for bugs in my area and have never come across one before. A few friends who live kind of nearby (ten to thirty minutes away by car) have been having scorpions wander into their homes too. They've never had this happen before.

I've only lived in Oklahoma for five years, but most of my friends are lifers.

Any idea on where all these scorpions are coming from?

What is the general temperature around there? There are most likely scorpions in Oklahoma. These could be stowaways from other nearby states.

There are scorpions here, but I've never seen them in the city; only when I've been out hiking in the mountains or really rural areas.

Recently, the temps have dropped from the 70s to the 40s (this week) and the last time we had a batch come in it changed from 90s to 80s. That's why I didn't suspect the weather.

I originally posted from my phone because I was out and about when my friend mentioned he had one come in that day. Now that I'm home, I can confirm the species is Centruroides vittatus.

I also just stumbled on this article while googling about it: http://www.newson6.com/story/15637846/drought-brings-out-scorpions

EDIT: Also, forgot to add: I kept the one that stung me several times (that hid in my pants) and another I found as pets. I'll be keeping any I find at this point. Fascinating little buggers :)

The changes in global weather patterns has affected many animals and given some the ability to encroach on areas they traditionally are rarely found, if at all....This year i caught a large sea bass when i was out fishing for sea trout plus i saw an unknown small shark specie when i was out diving in the spring...Both sharks and sea bass are not a part of our traditional fauna.

Brian, where did you go diving exactly?

@TheEternal, I was thinking that a change in weather was the problem, as it does seem by your second post. It's good that you are keeping them; do you have an idea about the exact species?
