In reading about T's I'd read that the Cobalt Blue is notorious for being aggresive and then I read about the Orange Bitey Thing and I'm wondering if it is more aggressive. Are they one and two or are there others that are even more so?

I have one of each and would have to say that between the two, the Usumbara is more aggressive. My Usumbara will not hesitate to dash out of her burrow to attack whatever the disturbance it (my thongs) and flip out!

My cobalt on the other hand is much more secretive and will rather hide or run away that try to fight. She has demonstrated some pretty aggressive behavior but no where near as much as the usumbara.

You use your THONG to prod your tarantulas? No wonder they're all a bit flustered :p

haha yeah....

My Acanthoscurria Geniculata is by far the most 'aggressive' spider I've seen yet. I'll make a video of me dishing out some pokeage with a paintbrush to show the beast

I don't prod them with my thongs!!! Well just once in a while! lol

While I'm cleaning up her enclosure of cricket remains or taking her water dish out, she'll dash out of her burrow and bite the thongs!

They're both aggressive spiders. It depends on the individual spider.I've had (mellow) <edited for content - MrD> OBT's and (mellow) <edited for content - MrD> cobalts.I've had extremely aggressive OBT's and also BBT's(blue bitey things..lol)Out of the 2 though I'd say the usumbara were more aggressive...colbalts being more defensive aggressive...peace..

I have both also and my experience is just the exact opposite. The Cobalt is much more vicious as it will actually charge at anything that enters its cage and attack. The Usumbara prefers to run and hide. I think it varies from spider to spider although both should be treated with the utmost respect. As soon as you let your guard down and get complacent, you're asking to get bit.

I would say the difference is this: the H. lividum regards its burrow as its territory. If you get too close or poke into the burrow, yeah, you get a psycho spider. The P. murinus RCF regards its whole enclosure as its territory ("if I web it, it is MINE!"). As such, any disturbance in their enclosure can result in a psycho spider.

True true.....

"If I web it, it is MINE. Everything I put my feet on is MINE. Everything within a three block radius is MINE. And EVERYTHING Ticks me the Hell off! But it's all MINE!"

We don't have a H. lividum Yet, but those I have seen are alot more defencive then actualy openly agresive. If you leave them alone, they are content to leave you alone. Orange phsyco demons on the other hand. If you bother them, they want your head on their fangs. If you don't bother them, they want your head on their fangs.

We just lost our OBT Keoche not long ago to what I can only call a phsycotic temper. I put in a few crickets for her. At some point cricket ended up on her wood. She managed to sink her fangs in and evedently got hung up and couldn't get them dislodged. At least thats how I found her the next day. :(
But then she was prone to attack her log, her flower pot, her own blinking webbing was pounced and fangulated on a regulare basis. I swear that spider was Totaly insane. Faith is Still upset, it was her favorite spider.
The pet store has another but unfortunetly they want a whopping 50 dollars for it.....
So Faith will have to wait for a while to get another.

She did Love her "Little cute monster tiger baby."

LOL!!!!!! Oops! Didn't realize I was mispelling that!

In my experience, my cobalt hasn't been very defensive even to her burrow. Only one time since I've had her has she shown her "colors" and been defensive. This was when she was out of her burrow and in the open which is rare. I had to get her to move and she did not like it one bit!

All other times I've dealt with her including taking her out to do a big cleanup of her tank she was surprisingly "calm". I always expect the worst but she surprises me.

When I read these descriptions of T's going psycho and attacking everything it makes me crack up!=D I do not have any extremely agressive "PSYCHO" T's but I would love to watch one get crazy! I am thinking it would be adorable!;)

OBTs are obviously defensive/aggressive, but are they "hot", like a Pokie? I was thinking about getting one but I'm reluctant if they are "hot".

i'm curious... why the comparison between the P. murinus and the H. maculata? yes, they're both OW T's, both from africa, but they're not exactly the same T are they?

african

if u wont to go african then the most agresive african spdiers whold be
1. being Citharischius crawshayi most
2.Pterinochilus murinus
3.Stromatopelma calceatum
4.Ceratogyrus marshalli
5. more thne likly one of the Hysterocrates

yet Haplopelma lividum u will not see much if u keep it propaly same whiht Hysterocrates and Citharischius (more so whith crawshayi u never see it) and Pterinochilus murinus u will see all the time thhri is more bedate whiht the agresen of haps but manly lividum is more thne likly to run at u and if it get anoyed it will truen evil yet Pterinochilus murinus tends to me more agressive to start whtih in toiher word just tuuch and web and it goes crazy yet Haplopelma lividum will take a few probs do note and then just exsplode
