I have Omothymus schoedtei on it's way aswell as Aspinochilus rufus. I'm aware of care for Arboreal Ornithoctininae but never owned these species before. I believe O schoedtei can hit 8" which is awesome and a decent looking Tarantula. A rufus is a unique coloured Arboreal Ornithotoctoninae I've been thinking of getting for a while.

How does everyone find these guys to keep?

I was after Phormingochilus carpenteri originally but couldn't find them available, that's one for the future. I wanted one species that will get to 8" or more that's not Poecilotheria and wanted A rufus just because of its beauty.

I'd have thought so, do they ever surpass 8" or is that rare they get that large? I love all the tiger striping they all have, and the arboreal Ornithonoctoninae, although quite reclusive, can be seen more than the Fossorial as you only ever see the Fossorial species like Haplos legs near the burrow when they're hungry, at least on the occasions you see the arboreals you get to see them in all their glory.

C Sp Valhalla looks particularly stunning... Although I'd hazard a guess that people selling them when putting photos up make sure they're highly saturated photos, as I've never seen such a stunning green as I have on the photos.

Anything that looks good, eats well and grows fast is a winner in my book. As lovely as some Aphonopelma are, there is no way I could wait ten years for one to mature and waiting between molts must get tedious with the slower growing species.

I've never even had a single schioedtei reach that 7" Mark....but I've had them get close....I think 8" is an exaggeration.

I like my A rufus, it’s a pretty T and facinating to keep, it’s skittish and fast.

I can't wait until mine comes. It's a little bigger than the schoedtei at the moment so must be a fair bit older although both are slings the O schoedtei probably started out near to what it is at 2-3 CM, the A rufus is 3-4 CM so a nice size sling to get, hopefully past the fragile stage or not far off. I will then have 9 Ts, A Black Fang Wandering Spider and a Timor Shield Mantis. Still thinking one more and leaving it at 12 invert pets... Or I could round it off to 15 😂😂

A tiny amount in comparison to what some of you guys in this forum have.

Probably just sales tactics. The haribon eagle is one that's supposed to get very large but I don't know how exaggerated that is either, I forget the proper taxonomic name for that species. I guess I gotta find that carpenteri.

People don't realise how big a 7" T with zero exaggeration, measured properly is. A 6" T is quite impressive.
