I wish others here were like me and saw the need to preserve habitat for these snakes, and other animals affected by development/habitat loss. It comes down to money most people here are greedy and making money from a store is more than some conservation fund to protect wildlife, I want to move to an area that still has natural areas that won't be touched by people.
Being in proximity to any major metro area (let alone New York City) certainly presents challenges when it comes to conservation. Is there any kind of local/county park system near you? Fairfax County VA has a great park system with parcels of land ranging from 50 to 1000 plus acres. That's where I get my wildlife fix for the most part.

There's only one park anywhere near me, it's about 400 acres, but its surrounded by a lake/pond mainly what makes it large most acres accounts for water, and it's FULL of people even the wooded area is used for dog walking, cycling, horseback riding and lots of garbage. I could probably relocate a snake there, but everytime I go it costs money to go in so i'd be paying to move them. I've only found 2 snakes in a lifetime so not many would be helped. But there are predators here not found by a lot, so the snake would be moved where there are new dangers.
