Thought why not, may as well post my other guys too so they can get some love as well. I'll just photo dump in here from time to time.

Also will add my scorpion in here as he's my only one currently and don't think I'll post much of him.

I've wanted one for a while, but they seem to not be as readily available as they were 15 or 20 yrs ago.
Yeah definitely true! I was lucky I got mine maybe 10 years ago? He was at a pet store for maybe 2 years or so and had no interest, I've noticed they are much rarer and prices have increased like crazy as well! I guess they aren't as popular but no idea why. Very limited breeders have them.

Thank you! 😁 And fairly easy to keep! Diet is easy and somewhat versatile - they eat a lot of insects as well and mine eats insect based kibble, so especially having insects around already is easy. It took him some time to get used to us as first, but I got him a shoulder bag type thing to carry him around daily at first, and he warmed up to us quickly.

They can be more nervous in new environments than most small animals but they adapt - only thing is he gets pissy when I wake him up in the day since they are nocturnal, but around 9-10pm he's active and ready. He can also be pretty calm, so we can have him around while watching a movie, or he can be exploring around a bit. Generally really fun to have and it's been a different experience!

I was told they need giant wheels to run in and they needed a 4ftx4ft viv is that true? Its one of the reasons i never got one, that and I knew they were nocturnal and i am not 😆. I often get up early everyday, 3/4 am and because of this I can't keep my eyes open past 8pm 😆. I would not be awake when little one was active, that's not fair on the hedgehog.
I have always loved hedgehog though. Years ago I had a wild one have her baby's in my garden and they started off a life long love.

Yes true for the wheel, took me forever to find a good sized one but he has a 12 inch wheel. For mine my cage is a bit smaller (critter nation cage, one level) and it's 3ft by 2ft and I find it's enough space for him, but he's not that active either as he lives for food and sleep but I would imagine for more active hedgies, larger space would be ideal. I know a lot of people make bin cages for them as well to keep heat in (they also need ceramic heat emitter for heat) but my temps are good with his cage.

That's also super cute! Haven't had the chance to see wild ones ever but I could imagine that would start an obsession!

Interesting, I suppose like all animals it depends on the individual how much space they choose to use .

It was very cool unfortunately by the next year we had new neighbours on both sides that replaced their fencing so the hogs can't get in anymore but it was still quite an experience to find a hog nest with tiny hogs in my garden. I did instantly cover them bk over once I found them literally 2 days old max still didn't have spines just bumps, luckily because I covered them mum stayed n raised them with us. She had 4 baby's was so cute watching them exploring our garden 😊, just gutted at the new neighbours . I did ask them to leave gaps but they didn't 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Got some new ones, mainly all the crabs! Finished my hermit crab set-up finally after nearly 2 months and they seem to love it so far. 1000006639.jpg 1000006638.jpg 1000006637.jpg 1000006636.jpg 1000006635.jpg

And the batik/marbles - so rare I see them out!
