Hello. I'm here again with another post. I'm considering keeping this one for each new jumper I get lol. This newest little guy nearly gave me a heart attack. I was trying to catch a different jumper when this one jumped on my hand. I'm assuming this little guy was going to have the other one as dinner lol. I ended up catching this guy instead. My insect app is calling it a golden jumping spider. Not sure how accurate it is or whether this guy is male/female or age. He/she is a very hearty eater. It went through several fruit flies in no time. It's snacking on one of the fruit flies in the first pic. Thanks again.

Any ideas about age or whether male or female? I can try to take more pics if need be.

This is the best I can get for now. My insect app is calling it a golden jumper and both species do look similar. Not sure yet how to tell them apart. lol
It’s a juvenile. I thought golden jumping spider was the common name of Paraphidippus aurantius?

Wow, apparently, they're one and the same. Goldens and Emeralds both appear to have the same scientific name but different common names. Glad to know it's a juvenile.

Yeah, that’s why when I ID, I use the scientific names. To avoid confusion. I don’t know many common names.

My insect app gives both, although, the results aren't always accurate. That's why I get more opinions on here lol. Most sites have my newest guy listed as an emerald jumper, but my app says golden jumper. I've barely found anything on them under that name. He/she is a neat little thing to watch and is my pet for now since it thwarted me catching the other one I was after by jumping on my hand. lol

Maybe get the Seek app, it’s a bit better than picture insect. But no identification app is going to be perfect.

Don't think I've tried that one. Looks like it does both plants and animals. Will definitely check it out.

I think that's a jumping spider! I'm so jealous!!! I myself rescue and keep wild spiders as pets. Both in and out door ones. I'm brand new to everything g and have been doing research as I go from YouTube. I want a jumping wild jumping spider but haven't been able to find any on the property where I live yet!

From what I've seen, they like to hunt where it's sunny, but not too hot. There are several different species. Snake Discovery on YouTube has a video where she gives tips on where to find them and also tips on enclosures.

I just saw her videos yesterday and read online that jumping apiders are the largest species of apider in the world with the biggest variety and like cross breeding of the spiders. Her video has me hopeful to one day find a wild jumper to rescue and love at home. But so far no luck yet! I have found everything local to my area except jumping spiders in and on my house/property so far DX but not giving up the hunt.

I love watching snake discovery on YouTube and wish she had a lot more spider videos.

Just give it time. They should be pretty active during summer. If nothing else, you can always order one online to help you become more familiar with keeping them. I got a phidippus clarus sling off of the morph market for a little over $20 and I just ordered an Asiatic jumper off of ebay for about $20. My bf doesn't like me spending a whole lot on spiders. lol

My boyfriend doesn't want anything other than a Goliath bird eater or jumping spiders in the house. The rest I catch to keep have to remain outside. I still sneak my current one inside to sleep next to me on my night stand at night. Rescued what looks like a hacklemesh weaver for my ver firdt spider from our bathroom before someone in the house discovered and smashed it. They know I have it and I'm just not allowed to get caught with it in the house.

I'm an adult and online stripper honestly, so I'll he using my own money to buy a jumpong spider after I get some experience on in heneral care with the wild ones I find at home. Once I'm more confident in my ability to care for them I'm gonna actively get a jumper probably online. Never bought something online like this before though and every online store I've peeked at the last two days are completely outta stock on pretty fuzzy jumping spiders.

Next week when I get paid I'm gonna buy a fancy little enclosure with a side wall like door for my (I think this is right) hacklemesh weaver.

My bf originally didn't want me having spiders at all. Then I ordered one online and caught one in our home. Since then we've come to somewhat of a compromise on my spider pets. I have a bit more than I probably should, but spiders are my thing just like gaming is his. lol

My boyfriend didn't want them either because he's afraid of them but he's been compromising with me as I take each new step in my research and care for my very first one I caught a few days ago.

Ps it helps a lot that my current spider is so chill and super NOT aggressive about everything so far too.
