I'm going OW due to my increasing sensitivity to uricating hairs, although their are some NW species I like and keep.

New world, just because they're much more docile and there are a lot of very nicely colored & patterned new world species in my opinion (A.versicolor, B.boehmei, N.chromatus, E.truculentus, etc.)

To be fair though, the only old world species I've ever owned is a young OBT.

As of right now, OW. This fluctuates a bit, but I just REALLY love the baboons :D

I've never had the pleasure of actually owning an OW, so I'll have to tip my hat to NW. I in general just have more experience with them and any buddies of mine that share the hobby usually don't have that many OW's either. :(

Definitely Old World.....I find their "feisty" temperaments and interesting adaptations to be more appealing than the itchy pet rocks everybody loves, lol.

+1 to this. Old world all the way ( although I do have a few new world slings that I got as freebies:) and they are cool too.) I much prefer the ones who hate me with the furious intensity of a thousand white hot suns ( like my OBT and H. lividum):fury:

NW out of one simple reason: In case a bite ever occurs, I'm not too keen on having to deal with it for a number of x days (for example from Poecilotheria genus...) afterwards. I know it's a very small chance you ever get bitten and if so, it's certainly your own fault, but for what it's worth - I do love my Psalms (which are NW, but act like OW for the most part) and the little OW H. villosella I own. There'll certainly be a very few more OW to my collection, but as I said: Preferred are the NWs, as the urticating hairs are somewhat annoying, but so far I only had extremely mild reactions (except for one time when my B. auratum haired me and I was just taking a breath...had an itchy throat for about a week)

OW all the way! Mine seem to be much more active than my NW.

When I first started keeping T's about nine years ago I kept almost NW exclusively. I got very bored with NW. I keep OW almost exclusively now except for a few classic NW. OW!!!!!!!!!!!

I prefer OWs for now because they can be INSANE and it makes it exciting, but when I can afford it I still plan on getting plenty of new world tarantulas such as Avicularia [add any species here], B. smithi/boehmei/emilia, LP, G. pulchripes/pulchra, and some other species I can't think of right now. I haven't had a problem with hairs yet but my B. vagans is only about 1.5" and G. roseas don't usually cause to bad of a reaction in people. I also don't really handle them either.

NW are always good, and genera like Psalmos, Avics and Taps are really cool, but OW are just so awesome :D

I don't care either way. When I see a spider I like whether it is OW or NW never even comes into the decision of getting it.

I've never owned an old world spider, but I don't think I will for a while. I'm sticking with NW tarantulas for now. Easy to take care of, fun to watch, and docility abounds. That's my kind of pet.
