Spider is looking super lanky, what do you guys think, male or female? From all images I have seen I strongly assume it is going to turn out as a male. IMG_0459.jpeg

New enclosure arrived, roughly lxwxh 10”x15”x7.5”

should be plenty for the next couple molts. Ran me 30 quid (EU)on the big river. The ventilation slots look quite big though, I think I might have to seal them with something from the outside. The red runners I got atm would squeeze through for sure. Adult crickets might not fit. So I might switch to locust for the time being.

anyway the spider is not ready to move out anyway, I am going to give it another week to recover from the molt and see how it reacts.

but the rehousing is absolutely necessary, the poor thing needs some air to breathe. I never would have expected it to grow so rapidly. The last two feel like it doubled in size. Also looking forward to provide more space for digging and a better hide than that coco husk. :)

Good they ship it with the liner still on. Keeping costs down using cast acrylic. Slots are faster to cut than holes so that too is keeping the price down.

Soo I build the new terra, but I have not moved the spider yet, as I am beginning to have second thoughts about the size of the new enclosure.

I felt it might be too big for the spider and also I wanted to first feed all the red runner roaches I had been breeding in a big box, as I think those will be able to escape through the vents, which are kinda big.

The new box has a looot of space and I tried to make it interesting with providing cork bark for a possible burrow entrance and some more stuff for enrichment.

I am waiting for the spider to make another molt cycle before rehousing, at this rate it should have eaten all the roaches by then.

The spider seems insatiable, sucking those roaches dry like capri sun!

Minor update: Sling refused a live locust the other day, ass is phat as can be, today the spider decided to decorate its hide with a pinecone and then squeezing in right next to it??

Ate a roach today, so molt might be still a bit off for now. I was able to lure the spidey out by turning on the salt lamp behind the enclosure, it loves the slight warmth coming off of it.

I coaxed the pinecone out if the hide, just to see if it would bring it back home later, we will see :D

The sling has become quite flicky as well, flicking hair almost every time I open the enclosure to do some maintenance. I guess it is mainly because when sitting on top of the hide it touches the lid, so it probably thinks I am trying to smash it with the lid :D

The last week it has bern hanging out up there, warming it self a little and watching unsuspecting roaches take a cool plunge in the pool

The pinecone has been retrieved and decorated with dirt webbing, camouflaging the hide quite nicely

Your hamorii is still more advanced then mine.

my two are in obliged fasting. I know they could eat. But they are fat. I don’t want to risk it.

I feel those red runners are perfect feeders in the sense that they are just the right size for frequent feeding sessions without overfeeding, given my limited experience I might be wrong though. There were up to four generations of roaches in the box, so depending on when the last meal was I can pick a bigger or smaller one. But compared to the relative size of the abdomen it seems it has still a bit to go before molting.

Hello folks I wanted to wait for the little one to molt before rehousing, but the more time passes I feel it might be a bit tight for it to do it in a relaxed manner in the current enclosure.

I have researched on here and saw many a post claiming similarly fat Ts should not be fed anymore and that a fat spider takes longer to molt in particular. It has been a couple months since the last molt, it was in October. I am a bit torn since I dont want a possible molt overlap with the spider getting used to a new environment. It doesnt seem to be very molty right now, doing its regular spider routine, hanging on the glass, sitting on the hide, sometimes 50/50 between those states :D

It blocked its hide with a pinecone so inside it would be very snug but I think it would be too big to molt inside the hide anyway by now. Last time it molted behind the hide out in the open already.

The new enclosure has been set up quite a while now, the first bloom of mold has died down, substrate has dried considerably, but not bone-dry.

I have introduced a small population of tiny white isos and springtails. They are inhabiting the deeper layers of substrate. Substrate is “jungle bedding” which consists of some topsoil with a healthy dose of sand.

tl:dr you think a rehouse is the better option, or should I just… WAIT!?! ;)

I think it looks pretty good. She has a good amount of substrate, a nice hide, and has made a burrow that allows her to choose how much moisture she likes based on how deep she goes. You're off to a great start, IMO.
