Okay guys I took everyone's advice and again thank you for the help/honesty! Nacho only really gets bothered now when I have to clean up his terrarium so I move him to a temp. Container.

In other news!
Nacho didn't eat his crickets this week, and he also did something I've never seen before: IMG_7059.JPG

He's dug out a good amount of the eco earth from under his hide, and webbed up the front. Is he going to molt? If he is I want to move him out of the viewing room to prevent people from tapping on the glass going "IS IT DEAD!?"

Thanks again!

Looks like pre molt behavior, I would definitely move him out of the viewing area. A nice quiet dark room will do ;)

Why though?
There's no need to change substrate under normal circumstances, picking up food remains and what else your T leaves behind is enough.

Love the name, btw. suits a smithi well! :D

And he's looking for a way to get to that chainsaw, apparently.
I'd watch my bum if I were you!

I'm a tad late to this particular party. Just wanted to say that, from the looks of it, you could really use more substrate in that setup. You generally don't want to have any more than around 1 TO 1.5 DLS (diagonal leg span) of room between the surface of the sub and the top of the enclosure. A fall can be deadly, especially if it were to fall onto something hard.

By the way, did you check the gender after the molt? Is it a boy or a girl?

Ordered a new terrarium and set up a new crib for Nacho. I noticed he was burrowing a lot and didn't have much room to dig in his older space so I expanded. I would've made the substrate deeper, but then it'll cover the little holes. Do you guys think this is an ok set up?
