I'm experimenting with wasps again this year, here's one of the pics I have of my current nest.

I think the foundress is the one that is out of focus.

Lots of changes since last year...most of them big. The second volume of the caresheet should be up soon.

Just thought I'd share :)

Beautiful specimens I am surprised that colony is so small, my polistes colony has eight members now LOL

Yes it is. One of THE best starter wasps out there, not to mention their excellent temperment. They are also my favorite to work with.

i have one on the awning of my house as big around as a softball with many layers.Who knows how many.But i know there's alot.I have squished more than 20 (35 feet in the air or i would get rid of it)

Those would be hornets then. Polistes on have one comb layer.
