Oh that’s handy to know! Do you drill holes in the sides?

that looks like a fab home!

I drilled some small holes in the lid. Maybe about x20 1/16th holes around the perimeter.

Thanks, I like the size too for adult jumping spiders and I don’t remember the exact price of the container but I surely wouldn’t have paid more than $10 and this one is extremely clear which is great!

I use very similar ones for smaller amblypygi and I agree they’re a great alternative to expensive enclosures. I’ve found it generally a bit easier to drill the lids than the sides because of the rounded corners, though you can certainly drill the central portions of the sides as well if you need more ventilation.

Yeah they are great for many uses, none of which have been to store food ha!

That's np ask away 😊
Hey I wanted to ask if it’s ok -

I seen a listing with ‘rdi scale’ in the description. Not seen this on any articles or advice online. Could it be a typo?

How often do you clean out the enclosure? Would there be lots of droppings and waste? Or do you just remove what they leave after eating and excess webs?

Also, where can I get one? Do they have a ‘season’? Apart from the one mentioned above which is sold out I can’t find any available. They’re like hens teeth 😬

hi
Some more please 😅

found someone with a sub adult male p regius

They’ve said sub adult jumping spiders rarely eat maybe every 1-2 weeks
(Adult every 3-4 weeks)

is this true? Wow cheap to feed, the problem with that is that there are no feeders packs small enough and I’d have excess flies or crickets… can you buy a few at a time or are all the packs at least 50? (In the uk)

what does everyone else do? Or do you all have bigger, more spiders to feed

Cheers please thanks

Wow lots of questions 😁 right first never seen that either no idea what that's about. I don't really clean out dropping as they aren't really visible unless she does it on the acrylic of the viv. I do clean out left over food and I fed fruit flys when button was smaller but now she takes mealworms as the flys aren't really big enough for her any more . The Spider shop did have some phidippus in but Idk if they still have them but they were also sub adults. I got my button early summer , I should think spring/summer would be when there will be more baby's about as in the wild baby's would coincide with an abundance of food . Now button is 2cm + I offer her food once a week she usually takes it but not all spiders of the same genus have the same appetites like with all living creatures you get some that eat alot n some a little it totally depends on the individual. As for getting food you can get smaller fruit fly cultures from pets at home they are only £2 but can only be bought on line I usually get mine there with my other food as I have a collection of 39 t's n 10 true spiders so I get my meal worms n crickets ect there too 😊 I think I covered all your questions but just pm me if I haven't 😊

No need to be sorry it isn't a bad thing more ppl should ask as much n maybe if they did there wouldn't be as many husbandry mistakes.

I assume your daughter is also cute as a button then 😁😊 that's why my phidippus ended up as button. Works double now too as as she has developed her pattern and colours she has ended up with a bow on her head so also gets buttons n bows now too 😆

Yes I have a few now , each one has their own personality and quirks I find them infinity interesting to watch . I started with a house spider 14 months ago n couldn't stop 🤣

3-4 weeks is weird, I've never heard anyone say that. Even adults will regularly eat once a week, generally. 2 weeks max id say.

When people say they eat every 3-4 weeks, that generally means adult males that decide to not eat so they can “search” for females. It’s not a good or desirable thing to have them wait that long, sometimes that’s just how long it takes for them to eat. But you should always offer food every week.

oh I certainly will

i know they are wild in the US and crawling around lots of houses doing just fine but we don’t have them in UK so I’m panicking now about whether the normal ‘house’ noises are going to be too much for him, tv, chatter vacuum etc 😅

is there a post specifically for posting pics of them?

You can post on the media feed on the main page or you could post him on this thread . And don't worry about the ambient noise your spider will get used to it in no time mine are on a bench in my kitchen I cook have my music on child cats n dog in n out of the bk door the spoods don't care the only noise they sometimes react to is if the door is slammed (my son is autistic and doesn't always know hid strength) they will flinch at the noise but not move or bolt or out so you and Panda should be fine 😊
