in my experiences, if you come upon them basking over water, they will instantly drop in and swim.Venom said:My own experience with these in the wild is that they usually just try to get away, of course. But, if you get close, or get them aggravated, they can be extremely defensive.
Beautiful snake by the way! One of the prettiest north American snakes IMO.
