The fangs aren't involved in drinking at all. Water is taken in through the "mouth" area via the sucking/pumping stomach. The T will not drown, the setae trap air around the body and some species will even run across the water as an escape strategy (see the pic of the Tapinauchenius sp. on Rick's site).
