Pig, do your female minatrix have large opisthosoma (don't know the latin plural, ugh)? Mine has a very large abdomen (baby got some major back!). Just wondering if that's normal (and no, I'm not attempting to powerfeed). She's on the same schedule as my other specimens in her size category, and none of them look like that. The only time she looks "normal" is immediately following a molt. Then after the first meal, she explodes into the plus size category :)
Yup, this sp, being so short, tend to have huge rumps. My gals look bottom heavy by comparison to the male.

I can't get good pics because they have extensive webs and are rarely out.
This is a pic from about 12 months go (or so) you can see how big her rump is compared to her overall length.

This was roughly 1.5 yrs ago, again rump is huge.

Most recent pic, which was about 6 months ago.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Pig! I didn't even consider looking at the perspective in comparing leg length to abdomen size, but you are right on :) I look forward to waiting eons for mine to grow up.

GL w/ the breeding, post pics. Again, be very careful with versi gals, they will go after the male if they are not ready to breed or if they have bred successfully.

Have that set of tweezers at the ready to save your male.

I was supposed to get two more peru purple today, but the post office screwed up and they are hung up in NYC:mad:

Eons is right, my gals are right at 3 yrs (sling to 3"+), and my male is a lil younger.

Post pics, I love avis, and I LOVE MINATRIX. My goal is to have a successful sac from them, if I can acheive that, then I will be VERY happy.

When it comes to avis, I'm surprised these babes don't receive more attention.

How big do these A. minatrix grow? (legspan) I'm under the impression that they are a smaller breed.
