Thanks :D I totally understand why people fall in love with them! Those pink toes are just too cute.
HaHa!!!! No one can resist the power of the Pink Toes!!!!!

By the time I got around to getting one, I already had a versi, a rosie, a Pokie, P. irminia, B. smithi, and C. fasciatum. But no sooner had I unpacked my Avic avic, I was left wondering why I didn't get one sooner...like, as my first T. :wall:

Oh Dear :(

So I woke up to find my stupid cat had knocked the little Avics enclosure onto the floor, it was upright, with substrate everywhere. I was terrified to look in, and gently touched her and she walked back up onto the all where she is currently chilling on the side of her enclosure, all 8 legs intact and no rupture. Think my chances of her surviving it are ok?

Im currently baking some substrate in the oven to dry it (whoever posted that tip in the G.rosea thread THANK YOU, we always have substrate around as we have snakes too but never thought of drying it this way) and Im gonna take her out and clean her house up in a bit. Im thinking if she survived this, she will be ok now, but I know how fragile they can be :(

Im not impressed, I think my cat (and this is the expensive purebred one go figure lol) has a death wish!

Well, I have taken her out, cleaned and re-did her enclosure and she is now back home, so here's hoping she is going to be ok.

CAT?!?! lol, There are 6 cats in this house and only one is allowed in my room. Even though he can come in, he can never be alone. Just this morning I was on my way to the kitchen to get some Corn Pops and Hot Pockets, when my cat bolted into my room and went straight towards my T's, I scooped him up and put him outside my room and shut the door...

Moral is, I've learned how cats can mess up a perfectly good T encloser.
No cats, no problem! lol... I'm glad to hear that everything worked out for you and your T in the end.

So uhhh?.... how about those new encloser pics?:}

New enclosure pics are coming, but will have to wait. My daughter is turning 1 on tuesday and we are having a little party today. My memory card is almost full so Im saving them for that. Will get a new one next week and take some pics :D Problem is my cats have always had the run of the place. She has never bothered my G.pulchripes, so I didnt think she would care about the Avic (whoops) We are working on a safer location for both T's right now.

Sigh.......sorry for the rant, Shell.....buuuuuutttttttt:
DO NOT EVER KEEP AN AVIC DRY!!!!!!!! That is asking for trouble, dessication, and SADS. There is absolutely NO reason to use dry substrate in an enclosure for a species that NEEDS copious amounts of temperature, humidity, and ventilation.

Oh Im not keeping her dry, dont worry, this substrate was like SOUP!!!! I just didnt want to add it that wet, she's nice and humid etc No worries. If I put it in that wet, it would have been a soupy bog in the bottom (I think the hubby added too much water when he mixed it) I was just taking the edge off the wetness.

Edit* but you can rant all you want ;) I don't mind and Im always open to learning more lol
I also have a hygrometer for her (I have learned alot about humidity from keeping the Ball's lol) and she is near the snakes, as its warmer there and we also have a humidifier running for them. Ventilation is really good too :) Although our place is pretty toasty in every room.
Just reread my post though and I can totally see how its unclear and looks like I was making it DRY lol

Soup, you say??? Avics poop enough without the help from the added fiber, LOL.

Well, that's a different story......In that case, drying it a bit would be a good idea. Since I have to rehouse both of my Avics later on today, I'm in Avic care mode this morning, LOL.

LOL no worries, I would rather someone with experience point out any possible mistakes I am making instead of ignore them :D

Speaking of poop, I was transferring her into a deli cup so I could fix the mess my cat made and my hubby was standing over watching, and I said "careful Avics are poop flingers" he jumped about 5 feet back and watched from a distance after that lol

Good luck rehousing your little poop throwers ;)
