Just want to ask if Phormictopus cancerides "Haitian brown tarantula" & Phormictopus cancerides cancerides is 2 diff Sp... :8o:8o:8o:8o:8o:8o

if so will somebody please tell me what kind of phormictopus sp. do i have..??? here's the pics.. thank...:}:}:}:}:}:}:}

I have kept P. cancerides (sold to me as such) and they looked just like the ones you have there. As far as species classification, you need to hear from someone with taxonomical knowledge or you can order the research papers from your local library to learn how to identify them.

Here's a link to the papers. The tarantulas are listed alphabetically. So scroll down and you'll find the genus and species of interest. Libraries can usually order these papers which are listed chronologically in order, though they charge by the page.

Phormictopus cancerides cancerides is a sub species of P.cancerides and was listed by Latreille, 1806. And typically come from Haiti.

The Phormictopus you show resembles a P.cubensis.
