Paraguay Gold

There are several difficulties here with trying to ID this specimen;

1) there is no exact locality data, and

2) a 'generic-looking' theraphosinae such as this cannot be ID'd
without a mature specimen in hand to examine.

Sorry I can't help ... guess on, folks :)

I have a pic someone sent me of an adult female T. undescribed from Brazil, I can't remember the region offhand, I'll possibly start a new thread and put the pic up. Looks kinda like a white Paraphysa specie.

>>Thanks for taking the time to have a look see Rick...no guesses at all to maybe the species..acanthoscurria maybe??...anything at all to go on?.Paraguay or Paraguana isn't an exact enough locale?....thanks...peace..

No. No idea and I don't guess with such a lack of data to go by. Paraguana Peneinusla is in N. Venezuela and Paraguay is thousands of miles to the south, near Argentina ... like comparing apples and elephants. Grammostola, Acanthoscurria and most other theraphosinae have to be microscopically examined to check their plumous setal arrangement between the opposing coxa, trochanter and/or femurs of the palp and/or leg I & II. The theraphosid spider in this image is still a 'mystery theraphosid'.

To an earlier post question, send any images you want me to see and comment on to rickcwest@shaw.ca as I rarely have time for the chat boards ...
