1593194944532.png The holes are very small but I think if the eggs hatch babies could escape. I am thinking I could tape over them and use pinpricks to make for smaller ventilation. I would not want the babies to go into the holes and get stuck tho. I could maybe move the whole wood piece.

She was wildcaught a couple weeks ago so they may be fertile.

the really tedious option would be to shove a little bit of paper towel into each of the holes, or you could tape a really fine mesh cloth over the holes. If you have any sort of porous tape you could try that too. Watch out the babies will tiny, my female Habronattus pyrithrix recently had slings and they started out a little bigger than springtails.

The cloth sounds like a good idea :) Tbh, this is my first time with eggs so I am excited. I would love to find a female for my "Bold Jumping Spider" as well.

I found some leftover gauze and taped it along the holes.

Good luck finding a female bold jumper :), one of mine is currently sitting on an egg sac. Same situation as your zebra, she was wild caught and turned out to be gravid.

Thanks, I hunted for one yesterday but no luck for Bold Jumpers. I did catch a couple of Zebra jumpers, a male and female. I first caught the female and then saw a male sneak into a small crevice in the side of the brick building. I was a little frustrated because I could not reach it and my dad noticed and then tried to hold a lighter to the crevice. I think he thought it was funny but if I did not push his hand away the jumper could have been killed. I waited patiently by the hole, also guarding it against my father if he decided to try the lighter trick again and I caught the male as well.

I am not sure about pairing them, I should probably wait for the female to make a new web nest and settle down first?

Thank goodness, jumping spiders seem to have a high heat tolerance (i've seen them basking on pavement to hot for human skin) so I would be more worried about him getting smoke in his book lungs.

Yes that would be a good Idea, provide her with lots of space and make her habitat as ideal as possible, then wait for a few weeks. I recommend this because females can store sperm for up to a year until she finds the perfect conditions, if you try to pair them but she is already fertile, she will probably see him as food. Good luck!
