I use wood and rocks mostly for my snapper. I know if I mounted those fake plants they would just get demolished. I put various live plants in every summer, but I have to change them out every couple weeks.

Same for snapper tho if your into live feeders guppys make the tank pleasing to the eye. As for plants iv never had a turt who didnt eat/tear it up within 48 hrs.. id of been okay with replanting (im used to that with fish)or even letting it float like guppy grass or something but nooo the only thing allowed in their tanj was stones and more stone xc

haha, I'd need to remove the turtle to do a replant job or I would be pulling a turtle off my hand. He/she can be difficult to locate when there is weeds in there and its unbelievably aggressive....so aggressive its named bitey or GBT. It will literally jump off the surface wood at anything and chase me around when I need to clean or move something. Damn thing makes me laugh with its attitude (its only got a 4" carapace), feisty little devil.

Its getting the size where I think I am done with green. The wood I have is actually a root system from a tree, so its great cover, a nice obstacle and a place to haul out on top of.

Post pictures of your set up!

So far my plants are holding in there! They are mostly ignoring them, but seem to like to sleep there at night.

He has such a cute little face :)
haha, you can see in the top pic that I was just a split second away from an open mouth or a snap...its mouth is just opening as I snapped the pic.

Pyro, if I fed this thing live food it would make such a stinkin mess in the enclosure. Every turtle I have owned, several species (aquatic), all had one thing in common....greedy eaters. To the point that they continue to hunt and kill everything moving, even when they are full. Then they just rip em apart. I don't give turtles that opportunity anymore. I hand feed (large tweezers, actually), so I can be sure every piece goes down the hatch and doesn't end up as litter, rotting in the tank. The difference is huge, I hardly need to clean it...instead of bi or tri-weekly cleanings, I can go over a month or longer and even then it still doesn't stink..smells like a lake, which I don't mind. I used to have to hold my breath to clean it.

They are very messy eaters. My red belly cooter does this thing where if he doesnt really like what you have fed him he takes it in his mouth, chews it up, and then blows it out his nose :/ Classy.

Hah iv never had a greedy feeder like that. I did hand feednpellets to solo turts tho. But I had a 75g breeder with 6 2" turts and a huge school of guppys in there. I actually had to net out guppys n sell them or put them in a normal tank because some of them wouldnt eat them -.- iv had messy eaters and ones who dont like to chew..but not greedy butts hmm.
