Corkbark

Forgot to add - a small piece of corkbark or bit of green moss will assist in in creating a burrow. The green moss is also good as you can mist it a bit and it will retain some humidity.

the trapdoors need water?
and when i came back after it one time it came out of the burrow and dropped the old cricket stuff that it ate

I'd say just mist it a little bit.

You are correct, it is not.
S. robertsi is a Ctenizid, and appears to be dark brown to black in coloration.

The two eyes in front are diagnostic of an Idiopid, aka front eyed trapdoor spiders. I would say Ctenolophus, as the majority of African reds in the trade are.

Here is an easy way to ID to genus:

Red trapdoor... wanted one of those for a looong time. Can anybody tell me where to get one and how much?

Also, does "red trapdoor spider" refer to several different similar looking species all with the same common name, or does it refer specifically to one single species? if so, could anyone tell me the scientific name(s) and taxonomy for these spiders? I don't know much about them other than the fact that they're mygalamorphs, but like I said always wanted some trapdoor spiders.
