He left his molt right outside his front door for me.

Thanks all!! I've had this thing for 2 months now, so I guess its going to be a while before it grows out.

Teal, I will get right on it......Though, I think my S. cal would give a more rousing motivational speech. {D

How long have you had yours?

It takes a while. Since premolt, Micro hasn't eaten for three weeks......so I ended up having to learn not worry so much.

I'm sure yours will molt soon.

Wow I laughed like a crazy person at this for some reason...you're funny. Maybe because it's 3:30am here and I'm at work and Arachnoboards is the only social activity I get...can't wait to get off night shifts...come on January!

Seems like a pattern with these little guys, I have one 1st instar H. maculata since the begging of last month and it hasn't molted yet.

Me too! Waiting for mine to molt. I wish they fed as well as my S. cal.. my H. macs refuse to eat if the lights are on!! My S. cal doesn't give a crap. it runs out any time it senses some prey and drags it back down it's HOLE OF DOOM!

That thing is adorable!!! I love the little babies. I got mine when it was a microscopic little .25" and is now pushing 1". My absolute favorite memory was once feeding him a cricket that was easily twice his size (when I first got him) and he attacked, got flipped over by the cricket, then he braced himself on the wall using his four back legs and held the cricket down until it stopped moving.

They do have quite a long premolt stage, don't they?

Thanks everybody!!! This little guy had me worried for a minute. He all of a sudden went from viscious hunter to mad cricket killer-and-leaver of uneaten carcasses. Although, I actually didn't mind the premolt stage due to the lack of frequent escape attempts during maintenance....now, it's back to business as usual.

As near as I can tell, H. macs aren't quite the grower that most arboreals tend to be.

Hmm...that's a bit disappointing. I have a few H. macs headed my way, and I was hoping they'd be fast-growing like the other arboreals.

It's not so bad.....I've heard it takes about 3 or 4 years to fully grow out. When you consider most arboreals take half that time, that is qute a while. But Brachys and Grammostolas take 5-7 years, and the KBB takes up to 10 years......sooooo.....the H. mac isn't bad at all.

Lucky! I got mine on Oct. 29.. I'm pretty sure they're 1st instar based on the size but hopefully they're due for a molt soon too

How much larger did all of yours get? Mine is ~1/3 - 1/2" legspan right now
