Thought I should add this in. Whilst bamboo sharks and their relatives are very tolerant and fearless of humans, they do not enjoy human contact. I was simply being sarcastic. Except for the keeping part. That'd be awesome.

A shark's body is essentially covered in taste buds....touching helps them decipher prey from non-prey.....don't like being pet.

I think the petting thing is only for the people that do it, not the animals - EXCEPT my muticus, she loves it.
