He's was chillin' in the bottom of his place for a while, under a plant. But usually, I'll find him sitting on the side of the glass, perched on a bed of his silk. He almost never goes down to the bottom unless he's got dinner plans with a cricket
But today I was going to feed him, and he like, showed no interest in the food at all. So I figured he might molt soon, right? Cuz I heard they molt. 'sides, he's getting dark and lethargic I think is how it's described.
Anyway, he hasn't moved much at all until a few minutes ago. Because sometimes, I'll peer into his cage, he climbs up to the top like he wants to get out or something  So.. yeah, I like to let him out and he can jump around. I let him out, and he was having trouble holding on to the sides of stuff too. Like.. stuff he jumps/climbs on all the time! Anytime he tried to jump or climb up something, he would slip off and have to climb back up his string of web. :(

Any thoughts on why he can't hold onto things or why he's not eating?

It's probably full.
Let it sit around for a few days or a week, it will be hungry then.
If it is molting, don't try to feed it until at least a day after it's in a new skin. Its exoskeleton might be soft right afterwards..

A-huh! Thanks again Motzo! :worship:
I won't feed him for a a few more days. I was concerned tho cuz I last fed him five days ago ;; (local pet store closed). Is there a reason why he keeps falling? Is he dying  ??

is it approaching a molt?

i wonder if jumpers have the same thing that some T's have happen to them- when a T is really close to a molt, it seems to lose it's ability to climb. :? wouldn't think so with jumpers, but it is a thought. i would think that jumpers would be able to climb all the time.

As long as the spider isn't being poisoned or deprived of water, I don't think it has reason to die.
I've never really noticed an inability to climb when a jumper approaches a molt. I have, however, noticed clumsiness after they eat a lot. That includes stumbling on walls that they normally climb. Maybe they were approaching a molt..

and you're probably right. i've never really noticed it either. like i said, it doesn't make sense that a jumper would exhibit that. anyway...

I'll be sure to check, though.
In the meantime, you can add an easily climbable pathway or two to the enclosure >.<

Thanks so much Widowman10 and Motzo :D
I'll give him something easy to climb on. 'Gave him a few water drops after reading another thread posted earlier. He's definitely not full.. But, I'll let you know if he molts!! At first, I did think his ability to climb was somehow affected by an approaching molt.. but, I don't know so much(Again, very new to spiders:8o) OMG, I'd be so psyched if he molted tho! I'll totally tell you guys if that's what's going on:worship:
Though, it will probably be his last one, yea? They don't live much longer than a few months probably.. :(

okay, that's interesting.. uhmm..
Well, Congrats Motzo!
How did it act before molting? Did it hide itself under something for a while??

It ate quite a bit then it went into a home it made on the ceiling a while back.
I don't know why, but P. Audaxes tend to prefer ceilings for their homesteads.
She(or he) is nice and shiny ^_^
::EDIT::
The spider is stumbling now! Post-molt. She can still climb, but some of her footing is unstable. How odd, it might be a freshly molted spider you have.

We seem to have 'stumbled' across some new developments{D They're so cute when they're all shiny ^^ !!
He definitely wasn't as hairy when I first got him... He was pretty shiny which would indicate recent molting, right? But then again this stumbling behavior was very recent, wouldn't he have exhibited it sooner?... :wall: Anyway, he's no longer stumbling because, well, I think he's hibernating? :?...
He made a nest under a bottle cap and he hasn't come out. ...Strange little guy. Maybe the approaching hibernation had an effect? I don't see why he'd hibernate when it's almost spring here. Any input/advice, would be great~ :]

Thanks for keeping me posted, Motzo!

I wouldn't call it 'hibernation', just simply hiding until either molted or hungry.
Your spider should be out in about a week or two.

Oh crap I hope I didn't accidentally murder my jumper, though she didn't respond at all to any touch.

What happened to make you think you accidentally killed her? Is she moving yet?
Are her legs curled up under her?
Hope she's okay~

I put her in alcohol for my bug/spider collection! No way she's ever gonna move again unless I shake her vial. {D

I bawled when my first spider died >.>
It was less of a pet and more of an eight-legged friend, she didn't bite me, even as an adult. (it was a P. Audax)
Off of depressing subjects, I just cleaned my spiders home. If she starts slipping because of the wipedown, then we might have solved it.
'EDIT'
No good, it isn't slipping. I dunno what to tell ya o_o

Well, he stopped slipping :? Like, i swear, it's the weirdest thing..
How far along is your jumper, Motzo? My regius is an adult now.
So, idk, I have a little theory that maybe maturity and molting had something to do with it? Not sure.. it probably makes no sense at all, but that's the only thing I can think to explain it.
Anyway, like I said, he's fine now ^^ Little guy can climb and jump like the dickens! I had a scare though when he escaped yesterday, but I found him again. He's eating his first meal after the molt :D
btw:
I'd probably cry for a week if he died on me. I don't think I could bear it, so I'm just gonna let him go in the spring as planned. It's funny, I got my whole family to love this little guy. I never knew before that, like, I could care about these little dudes, either. But I'm totally glad I do :)

Mine is like, half the adult size.
Still juvenile.
Mah stepmom is arachnophobic, so I don't go about telling them I have a baby spider o_o
