My mature female G porteri is molting. No matter how many times I see a T molt, it's still exciting. Her last molt was about 1 1/2 years ago.

Molting tarantulas like that always make me laugh. It's like they need life alert because they've fallen and can't get up.

Its been 4 hours since she flipped, and nothing has changed. She is still laying on her back like a drunk suburban house wife. G porteri sure do love to take their time doing things.

She is a pampered lady. She sits in the same spot, day in and day out. Food is delivered directly to her home, and the lazy bum doesnt even pay rent!
She reciprocates with love!. Mines a blithering ingrate. Will refuse any food that is not "of the correct size" :)

I love G. porteri. They're kind of boring and I can see why they're not for everyone but I'm a fan. Congratulations on the successful molt!

I know that I get another one after my Old Lady ^^.
Boring is my Phlogiellus baeri . I only can see an empty enclosure all the time, no chance to see the spider. My G. porteri is sitting every day on another place, but I can see her. Not boring at all .

Same. My girl is rarely in her hide. She was my first tarantula and I read how it was a pet rock but I never got that from her. She was always engaging somehow, and could absolute tear up prey in a way that would make my A. geniculata proud.

BUT the fact that they are so slow to grow from slings, prone to fasting, and not the most flashy of tarantula can make them a species people pass over with ease.

And those people are on drugs because LOOK AT THIS BABE.

I have 3 g porteri. I love these Lil kiwis with legs. One is almost always digging, one made some epic tunnels, and one lays webbing on everything.

I've had my large Rosie for about 3.5 years and she's never molted. You have a great looking rose hair there.

I have my G. porteri now ~ 8 or 9 years, she molted only three times, the last time was about three or four years ago. She is eating only every few months. I think she is a very old girl ^^. But she still is beautiful. I love the shining carapace and the golden spot on her back. She is my Avatar ^^.

@ediblepain You show a picture in a few days? :)
