I put a roach in last night and had some ants in the room that I knew about but didn’t think that I would wake up to them all over the enclosure. I already cleaned up the roach. Does anyone know what I should do should I change the whole enclosure or just let them leave on their own?

Id get the pede out and toss the insides. Get some gel style bait to treat the rest of your house. Near enclosures you know to be safe you can place them in shallow water moats with a couple of drops of dish soap to break the surface tension. Dish soap also kills them on contact.

They ate my lizard in a matter of hours , don’t sleep on this

First off, the trail. That needs to be adressed.

they didnt just materialize. They came from a nest. Bait traps need to be set. The ants arent going away.

but bait traps along walls and holes.

get enclosure out and safe.

dont know how your current life situantion is, housing, but those ants willl be back.

thats why you need to follow the trail and anihilate the nest.

you being in california, with ants, makes me believe you have dry soil.

Prepare for war.

ants biology 101: they will follow creases. Like walls. They dont cross a room diagonaly. So use that to youre advantage.

how many inverts do you have?

when i had issues, with 14 tarantulas, i sprayed poison outdoors all around the house, doors, and indoors. This needs to be done with delicate touch not to poison tarantulas.

Thanks for letting me know sorry to hear about that happening to your lizard. I’ve added some of the gel baits as well around where I’ve seen the ants today

i have about 20 inverts in my room but the centipede was with two others next to it so I moved them away from that enclosure. I also cleared their ant trail leading up to the enclosure.

Now you need to watch it everyday. They will be back.

once you hone down on the trail you can use all sorts of products including diatomaceous earth.

Time to Wage War on this Invading Army. :arghh:
Wipe Down, Clean, Set Traps, Try to locate where they are coming from . etc.
Good Luck.

We make homemade traps in those little pill bottles that work really well, you mix lots of sugar or something else sweet like honey or maple syrup with a pinch of borax cleaner, then drill\poke a hole into the lid and stick a rolled up piece of paper towel in the hole so it is touching the poison and sticking out of the top like a wick to make it easier for them to drink. Make one for every place they're coming in. If you don't have any pill bottles, any similar small container would work fine as well. Just don't forget to keep it away from your critters.
