I am no brain when it comes to true spiders, I know some but not tons...... The other day while working in the shed I caught what I consider to be the biggest wolf spider I have ever seen in my life..... its at maybe 2.5-3". I am going to take some pics when I have some time. I live in Oregon, are there bigger species of the wolf out in my neck of the woods that I just have missed all my life till the shed?

some wolf spiders get pretty dang big, and 3" is not unusual for Lycosids in the US. they are pretty sweet for sure and the bigger they are the more "people like" their little faces look!

Post a picture of the dorsal and ventral surfaces here or on Bugguide.net for an ID.

Wolf spiders (here at least) are nocturnal. If you go out at night, you can spot their eyes in the beam of your light.
