Welcome to the boards, nice spider selection for a beginner too!!!

I move my sling/juvenile enclosures around at every feeding and no issues. Actually it helps them to hide so they don’t bolt out when I open it up.

My adult enclosures don’t get moved too much because the lids just slide off.

I see no negative impact from moving them around.

Not sure if you know but tom moran has tons of podcasts if you want to listen to tarantula stuff going down the road.
Thank you and I'm hooked to his podcast. He does great stuff and very forthcoming with his knowledge.

agree, everyone moves their sling enclosures around. The key is they do it fairly infrequently and delicately.

My T's are on a shelving unit in my living room. I move them to feed. Very carefully and with as little shaking/jarring as is humanly possible. I can't feed them on the shelving unit, no room to do so and it would be impossible to safely recapture one should it decide to bolt out of it's enclosure during feeding.
So I move them to a spare room with a table where I have room to work. Once fed I generally leave them for a good half hour to feed in peace before I move them back to their shelving unit.

I don't know how old your kids are but I would be wary about having T's in the kids rooms. No matter how much you tell them to not open up the enclosure unsupervised, there is always the temptation.

I appreciate the reply. They are 9 and 11. I think it's one of those things where we drill the respect for the Ts and the consequences of bad actions. Not just from the spiders (urticating hairs with our species) but from us aswell.

With them helping us with our chickens, snakes, and rats they know the difference between living creatures and toys. But we all make mistakes no matter the age and hopefully when we do make a mistake it's nothing drastic.

We're all excited and can't wait.
and your daughters will learn some latin and get a great understanding of genus and species. 9-11 is old enough in my book to understand consequences and living things. Having done so with my daughter I think you will be fine. Welcome and enjoy

As someone who is at the tail end of this (my daughter will be going to college next year) you are in for a wonderful time. 16 years old, working the last Exotic Show before the shutdown (Anaheim Jan 2020)

Must be a bittersweet moment, but it seems you raised her right. Awesome that she vends with you, especially at 16! I'm considering vending (ball pythons) just because it's a great learning experience for them.

Also, sweet looking setup.

Thanks it is. We are just hired guns. We had known a dealer for years and had helped him out when he was understaffed and we did so well we help him with all the shows he does in the SW US.
She's a great sales person and has become a darling of the dealers.
You should do some shows, they are super fun and you make some great friends

I'd monitor the kids any time they wanted to move any enclosures and look at the spiders, but my slings don't care how much I move them around. I do it all the time, especially for feeding, because they are stacked up in a cabinet, and I feed my spiders in the kitchen. I just try to be careful with them and not trip or drop them when I'm carrying the enclosures. This is harder than you'd think because I'm incredibly clumsy.

The few times I've tripped and fallen, the tarantula was fine. At worst, a little dirt gets thrown around inside and it's kind of freaked out. I recommend making sure that any enclosure lids are locked on or otherwise secured down to prevent them from coming off.

Appreciate the reply. I'll take note of that.
