Slings can and will inject venom, although it can be a little difficult for them.
Also, from what I've seen/read/experienced, the effects of venom get worse as the spider ages. Sling: mild, local reaction (redness, itching); juvenile: stronger effects; adult: full-blown symptoms. I'd imagine this is a product of quantity rather than a change in venom composition.
